Goal of the event:
As to blind date which we organised , it was taken in the literal meaning of being blind. Through this event we wanted to „open eyes“ of people without disorders and to make them understand more what is life with some disorder like. It wasn’t based just on exchange ability we also wanted to strenghten the realtionship of our erasmus students and teach them how to listen to each other, count on each other.
Short description of the event:
Event consisted of 4 parts in each part they had a chance to experience something different.
In the first part : participants were blinded by the scarf , girls were sitting by the tables and we were helping boys to move from one table to another one. In this part each pair had 3 minutes to talk about topic they haven’t talked about before, they had to remember what new they’ve learnt about the person they talked with and later on interpret it loudly to us. Thanks to this part participants learnt how to listen to each other, we have learnt something interesting about everyone who was there and no one had the chance to judge the other one by the look - just by the words they have heard.
In the second part: participants had to work in pairs, stuffs/subjects were hidden in the place of event, each pair chosed one paper on which the stuff was written (e.x- pan, sock..) Every pair consisted of a person blinded by the scarf and one without scarf. The one that wasn’t blinded had to find the subject and then lead the blinded one there to take it and get back to the place they’ve started. Thanks to this part we tried to teach them how to count on each other, and to be ready to help blind person if any occasion appears.
In the third part: each of the participant being blinded had to guess the food we have served them (e.x.- sugar, Apple, chocolatte.) Thanks to this part participants coud experience what is it like to be blind and pay attention just to smell and taste of food.
In the last, 4th part: we wanted them to have some fun, once again divided in pairs, they had to dance and make different moves with balloon that they were holding without hands just with their chests.
How did your event go?:
It went well, we were surprised that Erasmus students were so excited about it. They had fun and there were no complications. So maybe in the future, we could organise something similar.
