Description
Aim of the event:
  • Raise Awareness
Goal of the event:
The goal of this event was to raise awareness within the international students and within the ESNers of the difficulties faced by the people with visual impairment in their everyday life.
Short description of the event:
ESN Coimbra gave the opportunity to international students to learn how people with visual impairment overcome daily challenges and how they can be more inclusive people in the society. In partnership with ACAPO (Portuguese association for people with visual impairment), we offered not only a Workshop of Braille (basics and curiosities), but also they had the chance to walk on the street and to have a snack without being able to see.
Also they had the chance to visit the association's facilities and to hear about their daily acitivities.
Even though not as many international students as we wanted participated in these activities, those that did really enjoyed it.
How did your event go?:
It went really well and both the international students and the ESNers really enjoyed this activity.
The Portuguese association that collaborated with ESN Coimbra was very helpful and nice.
Unfourtunately not many international students joined the event.
