Description
Aim of the event:
  • Raise Awareness
Goal of the event:
With this event we tried to eat our breakfast without looking to realise how hard it is for the visually impaired to have a proper meal. The aim of this event was to raise awareness for people who are visually disabled.
Short description of the event:
We went to a cafe which works with people who are disabled. We did blindfold ourselves and had breakfast without taking the blindfolds off. We tried to eat and drink but We learned that it is really hard to feed yourself or to drink anything without seeing. It was a different and very difficult experience for all of us. Some of the workers tried to help us but we insisted to try it out ourselves. Even some of the other people at the cafe asked us what we were doing so we explained that we were doing an event to raise awareness for the visually disabled.
How did your event go?:
At the beginning it was a bit hard for us but afterwards we got a bit used to being blindfolded and started to eat our meal with a lot more enjoyment. The ESNers and our exchange students who attended the event said that it was a different experience but that they had a lot of fun doing it. They also said that it is really hard to do anything without seeing something.
