Description
Aim of the event:
  • Raise Awareness
Goal of the event:
The greatest offering of the event is to understand the meaning of one's senses and the everyday life of a person who is visually impaired. Being aware of blindness and vision loss means and to increase blindness disability awareness
Short description of the event:
'Dinner in the dark' is organised by ExchangeAbility which is one of ESN projects. Its aims are to make exchanges more accessible to disabled students and to organise events that will raise the awareness of students and university official to the problem of disability in the academic community.

We made Dinner in the Dark event to get into the shoes of the people who are visually impaired and raise more awareness to the concepts they struggle because of inadequate accessibility. These concepts can be a basic need like nutirition. Our Erasmus students discussed this issue after the event and became more aware to this concept. We introduced the life of a blind person to our students and try to learn the difficulties of a daily life.
How did your event go?:
It was really hard for them to eat when they lost their sense of vision at the table. After the dinner we had a chance to talk and we hope that awareness will raise day after day until the world becomes %100 accessible for everyone
