Description
Aim of the event:
  • Raise Awareness
Goal of the event:
Our goal was to raise awarness for visually impared and blind people as well as getting aware of how we use all our senses and show that not everything should be taken for granted.
Short description of the event:
It was already the second time that we organised a Dinner in the Dark so we already knew more or less what to do. We ESNers prepared a dinner with three dishes and served it to the blindfolded Erasmus students. Each dish had to be eaten in a different way - butter bread and bread with the bavarian "Obazda" with hands, Spaghetti with tomatoe sauce with fork and knife, pudding with spoon. They also had to put the parmesan on their noodles on their own as well as pour what they wanted to drink from 1,5 liter bottles into their glass. When we talked to them, we put our hands on their shoulders so that they knew they had to listen. Apart from that, they started lots of conversations with there neigbours - we selected randomly their place so that they didn't sat next to their friends - and also tried to help each other.
How did your event go?:
It went very well, the participants were totally motivated, seemed to have a lot of fun and told us that it was an unusual but very interesting experience. Maybe the next time we should leave more space for reflection.
