Description
Aim of the event:
  • Raise Awareness
Goal of the event:
By visiting a figure skating competition at the Special Olympics, we want to raise awareness for what people with disabilities can do with the right conditions. The event took place the whole week and by going there together on monday, the aim was to motivate people to go there more often for the rest of the week.
Short description of the event:
The Special Olymics Winter Games 2017 were hosted in Austria, one of the locations being Graz. There was no entrance fee for the competitions, allowing everyone who is interested to watch whatever event they liked. ESN Graz organised an Event for exchange students to go and watch one of the figure skating competitions at the ice rink in Graz. We sent out an online form for people to register, so we know approximately how many people want to join. There was a meeting point in the city center, from where the group took public transport to the ice rink together. A second meeting point was provided directly at the ice rink, for people who did not want to use public transport.
How did your event go?:
The event went really went. A group of about 40 students showed up and all of them liked watching the competition so much, they wanted to come back on their own to watch more events during the next days.
