Goal of the event:
To be able to connect with every person as many as we can connect, we wanted to learn some sign language. Our goal was to make ESN more accesible, to raise awareness and spend the international day of people with disabilities with our friends with down syndrome who works at the Down Cafe.
Short description of the event:
We went to the Down Cafe which is run by people who has down syndrome. We first spend time with them, then joined their sign language class and we learned a little sign language together with them. They helped us sometimes because they have been learning sign language for a long time but it was the first time for us to have a sign language class. We learned, basic vocabularies that we use in daily life, some words related to family, fruits, foods etc. And to be able to know each other more, we said our favourite foods and fruits in sign language as we learned.
How did your event go?:
It went very well, people with down syndrome were very happy that we joined them and they were very welcoming.
