Goal of the event:
Through mapping, ESN KISA aimed to increase the amount of information available on the accessibility of Kuopio's Universities by entering data for Savonia University of Applied Sciences and the University of Eastern Finland.
Short description of the event:
Our local EA coordinator and two board members mapped two different campuses that service two universities. First they mapped the Opistotie campus of Savonia University of Applied Sciences, this building is quite old, but it still had many features that made it accessible to those using wheelchairs. However, there were less services for those with hearing or visual impairments. After mapping Opistotie they traveled across town to the Technopolis campus. This campus contains classrooms, offices, and other services for both universities. These buildings are quite modern, but still were not completely accessible. One of the best features of this campus was the clear signage.
How did your event go?:
Very well. We found the universities were quite accessible.
