Goal of the event:
ESN Joensuu would love to inform disabled students about accessibility level of University of Eastern Finland in Joensuu and encourage them with accessible facilities that UEF have been providing. Moreover, we hope to improve the UEF's accessible level which can attract more students to come and enjoy international student life in Joensuu.
Short description of the event:
We have searched information and checked by our ExchangeAbility team about accessible level of University of Eastern Finland. We ran around all campuses of university to find disabled-support facilities. I also look for some disable students and interview their opinions about how difficult they manage during the time studying there and what kinds of service that university has been provided to disabled students and staffs.
During that time we also took several photos of disable signs within university and post to the website ExchangeAbility Week in Finland in order to encourage other sections inside and outside Finland improving their MappED if they have not done. Moreover, other international students especially disables can understand our effort and they can feel that they will be never alone in this Erasmus Community.
How did your event go?:
It didn't go well, we had so many problems about university and campus recognition because there are 3 different University of Eastern Finland in 3 cities in Finland. When we added a new university in Joensuu with separate campuses, the website didn't accept and forced us to add in the same place with UEF in Kuopio. Then when we tried to add under campus level, it also didn't work well with many question marks. Finally, we had made something but not really special which can help much for MappED of UEF in Joensuu. I think I will continue that in next semester.
