Description
Aim of the event:
  • Raise Awareness
Goal of the event:
Though many disorders are visible to people, there are some which we can not observe externally. Communication disorder is one of those. Thus, in order to understand the difficulties these people face in their lives, we wanted to draw attention to this disorder by playing a simple game. It is called NO WORDS.
Short description of the event:
We visited the cafe “Demgood” where they serve coffee by using sign language and before starting, everyone was curious about what we were going to do. There were sentences written on the handouts like “Will you marry me?” , “Can I have a cup of tea?” and we divided Erasmusers into two groups and asked them to express themselves by using gestures according to what was written on the paper without speaking, writing or even without cooing. After the event, we read some of the real life stories of people suffering from communication disorder and we believe that we have raised awareness about this unknown disorder.
How did your event go?:
For some of the turns, it was quite difficult to express themselves for the students and sometimes it took ten minutes to guess the sentence; however, it was for sure that they enjoyed the event because we were able to read the smiling faces of the students.
