Goal of the event:
Tandem is an event that gives you the chance to learn new languages. Sign Language was a new language for everyone so, it was a good chance for the students to learn a little bit of that language and understand a bit more the life of a deaf person.
Short description of the event:
Tandem, is a weekly event that our section, ESN Nicosia, is doing. In this event, each student has the chance to learn or practice different languages. Based on the ExchangeAbility week, we decided that it was a great idea for everyone to learn a new language. We invited in our event a translator sign so, we had a professional teacher for our lesson. At first, the translator talked to us about Sign language, how a deaf person can use it, how else can a deaf person communicate etc. and the students asked their questions to her. After that, we start learning thing in Sigh Language. We learn the alphabet, the days of a week, the months, of course our names and a lot more.
How did your event go?:
The event went great! Everyone was excited after the end of the event and they asked us to have more events like that.
