Description
Aim of the event:
  • Raise Awareness
Goal of the event:
The aim was to raise awareness about how it is not to see anything and to make people aware of obstacles that sometimes they may not realise. Also, the goal was to make them feel as if they were blind people by stimulating different smells and tastes.
Short description of the event:
First, we prepared the ingredients to smell and taste: all kind of different infussions and teas (chamomile tea, penny royal tea, etc.), different sweets of all flavours, shapes and textures (marshmallows, etc.) and fruits (apples, bananas, strawberries, lemons, oranges and limes). We divided the students into different tables and put them the eye masks. Then, they had to guess what we were showing them either by tasting the fruits, trying the infusions or by smelling from the peeling of the limes, lemons and oranges. They also had to experience the difficulties when trying to take the food or the glasses from the table.
How did your event go?:
Really well, they became much concious about the importance of the smell and taste for people that cannot see.
