Goal of the event:
Show people that the normal streets of a city can be a fairly difficult thing to navigate if you don't have full mobility. We aimed to raise awereness for the state of Porto's streets and a faculty infrastructure. Our goal was that the relevant institutions can learn from this process and improve the city to be more acessible.
Short description of the event:
We asked an erasmus student who does a lot of sports (it is explicit in the video) including martial arts to sit down on a wheelchair and try to go from his own home to an ESN Porto event he had sign up for. The video is a compilation of several difficulties he found as well as some tasks we asked him to do while on the wheelchair, such as go to a local store and buying something. The ESN members helped him along the way and filmed the entire process, as well as constantly asking him for his feedback and evaluating everyone's reactions.
How did your event go?:
We believe it went extremely well since the video efficiently showed the big faults in the city planning. Now we have to follow up on this success and create more impact next to the responsible authorities, such as the municipality.
