Description
Aim of the event:
  • Raise Awareness
Goal of the event:
The goal of the event was to educate and provide our Erasmus students with a real-like experience of a life with a disability. The idea was to connect theory and knowledge with actual feelings. To overcome the obstacle between major population and people with disabilities.
Short description of the event:
This event was mainly focused on a real-like experience. Students got the possibility beforehand to talk about their biggest fears and worries concerning the life with a disability. Late on, they were given the opportunity to actually experience several such situations on their own, outside the usual theoretical presentation. Our group was accompanied by a professional dog handler with trained guide dog. Our students were also provided with a wheelchair. With all this help and accessories our students could experience the feeling of everyday life with a disability. They could experience the obstacles which can wait everywhere for blind and people as well as paraplegics. They could cooperate and help each other while doing such basics tasks as shopping etc.
How did your event go?:
All participants according to their own words really enjoyed the event. The possible disadvantage of the event in the lower number of maximum participants was richly awarded by the possibility for every individual student to actually try for a moment to live the life of a person with disability.
