Goal of the event:
Talking to each other without using any words and experiencing a different openness and empathy towards the people who have difficulties in hearing and speaking. Also to become awared of the fact that we have to understand them and do our best to help them through their difficult times.
Short description of the event:
As ESN Bogazici, we would like to open a window to a world of alternative communication in which we are going to try and communicate in a variety of non-spoken languages. We are going to talk to each other without using any words and are going to experience a different openness and empathy towards the people who have difficulties in hearing and speaking. We live in a world where people tend to ignore those who might have difficulties but we are fully aware of the fact that we have to understand them and do our best to help them through their difficult times.
How did your event go?:
It went suprisingly well. Our local members were so glad to participate in such a event like this. Our participants think that this event helped them to understand people with disabilities. Next time we can add more things up to understand better and we can extend the time of event to challange our participants and also to raise awareness even more.
