Description
Aim of the event:
  • Raise Awareness
  • Make ESN Accessible
Goal of the event:
The main goal of organizing this kind of event was generating an awareness among the erasmus students group about the difficulties that people with visual disabilities face everyday. It was making an everyday activity, going out with friends and having dinner, more social and inclusive.
Short description of the event:
We set up the meeting point in a place nearby the restaurant where we were going to make the event. The participants were aligned and are given a mask in order to prevent them to seeing anything. From there we helped them walk to the restaurant.
Once we reach the door of the restaurant, we kept the order in the line and made them went into the space enabled to perform the activity and helped them find a place to sit.
When everyone is installed we took the drink orders and asked if anyone had any allergies, intolerances or was in any kind of food regimen, because they would not know what they were eating until they tried it. When the food is served we indicated them were it was so it was easier for them start eating.
Once the activity is over and the masks were removed we started a discussion about how the experience and their feelings about it had been.
How did your event go?:
It was a different experience for everyone, but all the participants were very happy with the result and they loved that an activity that had already been done previously, such as the tapas route, would give this new approach much more social and inclusive.
