Goal of the event:
The main goal was to educate our foreign students about the life of vision impaired or blind people. We visited this association because our students could meet these people and see how brave and strong they actually are, and how they are not letting their disability stop them in their everyday life activities.
Short description of the event:
Firstly, we talked to the lady that works there and then she invited members of this association to come join us and show us the helping supplies they use. A man showed us the Braille and some books written in Braille the association possesses. They explained to us how every engine adapted to their needs is at least 5 times more expensive and how their chance of finding an employment is very low. We were disappointed to find out that our government is doing very little to protect these people. Afterwards, we played darts on a talking machine. They introduced us the chess game adapted for blind people and finally the map of Europe made especially for their needs. We were fascinated at how easily they move in space and how welcoming they were.
How did your event go?:
The members of the association were very kind and gentle. We admired their positive and uplifted spirit. For the next time, we should try and motivate more people to come.
