Goal of the event:
Our goal was in an informal invironment show students basics of the sign language and also the way how they communicate on daily basis. It's a place where to learn some new languages in an informal atmosphere - students teaching students. Get new friends and knowledge about other cultures.
Short description of the event:
Language farm is our traditional event, but this time besides Deutch, Spanish, Italian,Latvian we wanted to include also sign language. We chose infomal invironment -cafe, where students can feel free, not like again in school chairs. We asked to join person who speaks in sign language to show some basic phrases which were prepared already in order to make it easier for her to communicate with students. First we ask to learn latvian sign language, but during event we discovered that for students it is more interesting international sign language, so teacher showed that words and phrases in international way.
How did your event go?:
Everything went very well. Students showed interest and asked many questions related to sign language and also how people who can`t hear manage their daily life.
