Description
Aim of the event:
  • Raise Awareness
Goal of the event:
To show Erasmus students the world of the blind and visually impaired in a playful and light-hearted manner. To teach them the basics of the Braille alphabet and give them a memorable positive experience of blind people.
Short description of the event:
We visited the Invisible Exhibition in Budapest and after that had dinner in complete darkness. First we were taught the basics of the Braille alphabet, we could type down our names and some numbers in Braille. In the exhibition we were showed how blind people coordinate their lives, how they travel, how we can help them, we were even told some funny stories. From the exhibiton we walked over to the dinner where we were sat and served in total darkness. We ordered our meals beforehand so we knew what we were eating, we just had to figure out how to eat without seeing anything. Before the main course we got a surprise plate with olives, cheese, hazelnut etc.
How did your event go?:
There were not as many participants as we expected, there were 7 Erasmus students and 5 mentors. The exhibition and dinner was light-hearted, we had a good chat during dinner. Every participant enjoyed the evening very much.
It is important to make the participants pay the entry fee (that includes the exhibiton and the dinner) before the event, not on the spot.
