Goal of the event:
Through a paralympic sport designed for people with less or no vision at all, Goalball, we tried to make the participants understand and feel like, be in the shoes of, people with these certain disabilities.
Short description of the event:
This event was a special one because, not only was it an ExchangeAbility event, but it also was a SocialErasmus Event. It was an ExchangeAbility event because goalball is designed for people with visual disabilities but also because not only a man with no vision at all participated, but also refugees from Syria from a local camp took part in our activity, going "against" our own Erasmus students. We tried to show once again through this activity that the projects CAN be combined, but also practically that we can refer to others from the local community, from the minority population, like the refugees to try to appeal to them also and include them in our community activities.
How did your event go?:
All in all the activity was a success, even though TeamErasmus lost against TeamSyria, but I believe that new friendships were formed, new contacts were established, and we received lot of positive feedback about the whole organization that went into this activity, about the idea to invite the refugees and get in contact and interact with them. Because, what would ESN be without some more intercultural interaction?
