Goal of the event:
The aim was to spend time with the waiters with down syndrome working there. We wanted to show people that they are also a part of the society and down syndrome is not an obstacle.
Short description of the event:
First we brought our bags with us, our Erasmus Office helped us a lot with the bags. We had börek and cake made by the waiters in Down Cafe. We asked questions to waiters to get to know one another, with the unique companion of Turkish tea. After the lunch, we gave a brief talk on Down syndrome to draw attention to it. With the paints provided by the Down Cafe itself, we started to paint the bags. During the painting process, everyone had a chance to talk to waiters, which made all really happy. At the end of the day, everyone was very happy with their own bags and these bags are a memory for everyone participated in the event.
How did your event go?:
The participation was so high that some people had trouble with finding a seat, which was the only problem we faced. The overall feedback is quite positive for this event.
