Goal of the event:
The goal of the event was to raise the awereness for people with different kind of dissabilities and to realize the difficulties that those people are facing and see life through their eyes.
Short description of the event:
It was a chance for everyone who participated to share experiences and opinions about people with disabilities. We watched the movie, which was about the friendship between an exceedingly wealthy quadriplegic and his impecunious caretaker, a streetwise immigrant from Senegal. After the movie we discussed our emotions about what we saw and what we would suggest to do as students of Ioannina's university to help people with disabilities to have easier accessibility in the facilities of our university . Also through our discussion we realized that usually people think that there can be no friendship between people of different classes and that people with disabilities can't be happy with their lifes or enjoy it to the fullest. The movie, that is also a true story, disaprove that. Participants mentioned that disability is not the end of the life and that everyone needs the right person to bring out the child in their souls. Also disability doesn't stop the person to find the love ! So, in the end we understood important aspects around the disability issue.
How did your event go?:
Our event was succesful. The participants liked the movie a lot and they saw the diffuculties and especially the emotions of people with disabilities that they are facing in their everyday life, while they have to depend on the others for their survival. The only thing that needs improval for the next time is the number of the participants. We should try in a way to persuade a bigger number of erasmus students for the movie night event.
